Fireplace Combustion Vent in Dangerous Location

The indicated fireplace combustion exhaust vent was installed in a location and/or height that could allow occupants to come into direct contact with the heated metal vent components. As this is a potential burn hazard, it is recommended that a shield or barricade be installed that would prevent accidental contact with the heated metal vent components.


Fireplace Combustion Vent – Sealant Not Yet Installed

The sealant had not yet been installed around the fireplace's exterior exhaust vent.

It is recommended that the buyer verify installation prior to closing.


Fireplace Combustion Vent – Sealant Deteriorated

The sealant was deteriorated around the fireplace's exterior exhaust vent. These gaps and/or cracks are a likely moisture and pest intrusion point into the home’s interior wall cavity. It is recommended that a qualified contractor make the necessary repairs to seal the wall penetration.
